Cake Tasting Consultations

Cake tastings are available for large and complex custom cakes.  The most enjoyable part of wedding or party planning is the cake tasting/design consultation session – and not just because you’re eating scrumptious cake! This is where you get to sit down with us, one-on-one, and plan the unique design of your cake. Since every cake we create is one-of-a-kind, we encourage you to bring in your own ideas: pictures, invitations, printouts, fabrics, flowers, you name it.

For the tasting we provide several of our freshest cake and buttercream flavor combinations along with a sample of our hand-made marshmallow fondant.  Please let us know ahead of time if you have any special dietary restrictions.

Tastings are completely complimentary.  However, we do require a credit card number be put on hold before scheduling a tasting consultation.  In the event that you fail to show up for your scheduled tasting without calling ahead to notify us, your credit card will be charged a $25 “no-show” fee to cover the cost of the free cake you didn’t show up to eat and the time we scheduled to meet with you.  If you attend the tasting, or call ahead to cancel, nothing will be charged to your card.

Please note:  Due to the high volume of custom cakes we being made and delivered each weekend, we are NOT available to schedule tastings on Fridays or Saturdays.  Most other weekdays, including Sundays, are available for tastings.

Custom Cake & Cupcake Flavors

It’s really, really hard to taste cake over the internet, so we decided to help you out by making this super handy flavor chart, so you can visually see how all of our cakes and buttercreams stack up in terms of both texture and sweetness!

You can customize the inside of your cake just as much as the outside with our mix-and-match flavor chart.

The top of our handy dandy chart lists all the flavors of cake we can bake. The flavors listed in peach colored circles can be done in either custom cakes or cupcakes.  The ones in green circles are cupcakes only because they come with specific buttercream toppings and fillings that aren’t possible in larger custom cakes.

For most tiered and sculpted cakes, each serving has 3 layers of cake, 2 layers of buttercream filling, an outer buttercream crumb coat, and a thin layer of our hand made marshmallow fondant.  Check out the photos below to see how the cake looks plated!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you make vegan cakes or desserts?

A: Yes! In addition to vegan chocolate, vegan vanilla, and vegan red velvet cake and cupcakes we do have an ever-expanding list of vegan baked goods, including cookies, muffins, poptarts, brownies, cheesecake and other delicious treats available in store everyday.

Q: Do you make nut-free cakes and desserts?

A: We are NOT a nut-free bakery, as there are nuts on the premises and we do not have a separate kitchen or equipment for nut-free baking.  However, we are able to make things without nuts in them.  Let us know if there is a nut-related allergy (or any allergy for that matter) right away when you place the order and we are happy to make your cake using extra caution to avoid contact with nuts.  Just note that all of our equipment is shared between nut and non-nut cakes alike, so if the allergy is super-sensitive please use your own discretion before placing an order.

Q: Do you make gluten-free cakes or desserts?

A: We do not currently offer gluten-free cakes.  Gluten allergies can be very sensitive and because we do not have a separate kitchen (flour can be messy at times) we cannot offer gluten-free options at this time.

Q: How much is delivery?

A: Delivery is $50 per round-trip hour of travel time and only available for larger complex custom cakes.  We calculate travel time using Google Maps. (Please refer to our pricing page for more info!)

Q: What is your pick-up/delivery policy?

A: We only offer delivery on our larger, more complex tiered and sculpted cakes on a case-by-case basis.  Please inquire about our delivery availability.

Smaller cakes that can easily fit in a box and would need be picked up.  Pickup and delivery times will be arranged at the tasting consultation or when the cake is ordered.

Q: When should I order my cake?

A:  To guarantee your date we recommend placing your order as far in advance as you can.  As soon as you’re sure you want a cake with us, even if you don’t have all the flavor or design specifics worked out yet,  you can pay the $100 non-refundable date deposit to reserve your spot in our schedule.

And if you need a last-minute, but still delicious cake, stop by to pick up and personalize one of our Gourmet Cakes from our display.

Q: Do you provide a preview/sketch of my cake?

A: Yes.  We sketch out a basic line drawing at the cake tasting/consultation to insure everyone’s on the same page design-wise.  Then, after we have the Date Deposit we are able to spend more time completing a more detailed, colored sketch of your final design.
Our decorators and office managers are all artists with degrees in Fine Art including Painting, Graphic Design, Illustration and Art History from schools such as Mass Art in Boston.  Our talented cake artists will not hesitate to provide a custom sketch for complex, hard-to-imagine cakes.  Let’s say you love the design of the wallpaper in your room but don’t know how that translates into cake, send us a picture/the paper and we’ll transform your idea into a custom cake. Other ideas we can work from are children’s toys, invitations, party decorations, and even lace patterns on wedding dresses.
